The Web Studio

APRIL 2014

Welcome to the Web Studio Page. More insight and information on HTML5 website templates brought to you by C2Kstudios.

Each HTML5 template comes as a basic package that includes the fonts, graphics, icons, and back-end files needed to get your new site online right away. Available upgrades currently include (CSS3) support for Legacy versions of Internet Explorer, and server-side (PHP) security for Username/Password protection. Coming soon will be responsive support for mobile devices.

Here I will provide more information on each template including graphics, design inspiration, file structure, JQuery modules, and anything else that might be relevant or remotely interesting. Entries on each template can be reached directly from their demo description in the Web Studio.

Thank you for your interest in C2Kstudios...now on to the templates!

THE NINJA PRINCESS MEDIA SHOWCASE HTML5 WEBSITE TEMPLATE

The Ninja Princess was my very first HTML5 template. It was inspired by a photo of my daughter in a costume she once liked to wear. You can replace the graphic with your own of course, but you have to admit, the Ninja Princess is pretty bad-ass.

This template is actually based on the 2012 edition of my family gallery website, which I maintain for my own pleasure and to share pictures with family (almost) around the world. It is password protected, of course, which is one of the options you can choose with any C2Kstudios HTML5 website template.

The original template was black on pink and white; it looked just like the family site. I switched it for the showcase template, and added a few things, like the slideshow.

Here's a look at the icons:

All templates include a robots.txt and a sitemap.xml file for search engine indexing.

MY FAMILY TREE HTML5 GENEALOGY WEBSITE TEMPLATE

This was my first genealogy website template, and again, is based on a private family archive. Version 3 also includes an updated scrollview window that is now compatible with touch screen devices.

the "M" is currently hiding behind the main graphic because I shrunk the scale down to give a longer view here.

Back in 2011 my father was diagnosed with cancer, for the second time. Being on the other side of the country, there wasn't much I could do for him first-hand. So I painted him a protection rune and then got an Ancestry account and delved into the family history. I found his half sister, a lost nephew, and a whole family network, all within just a few days. It inspired me to build my own personal digital heirloom.

Here are the icons:

The photos used in this and the other genealogy templates are from my own family archive.

THE ORANGE SMOOTHIE MEDIA GALLERY HTML5 WEBSITE TEMPLATE

Thought I'd run out the theme here; the Orange Smoothie is based on my current family gallery site. At the time that I built it, it was my daughter's favourite colour. To be honest, I don't know what it is now. Changes all the time these days.

Here are some graphics for you:

All (well OK I'd say most) templates also come with custom cursors. All references to them in the CSS file(s) should be replaced with absolute paths specific to your domain.

MY FAMILY CLOUDS HTML5 GENEALOGY WEBSITE TEMPLATE

At the time I built My Family Clouds, I was on a high from selling a couple of tree templates, and also looking for an excuse to use the new TagCanvas plugin I had on hand. Another genealogy site seemed apropos, so My Family Clouds was born.

Sometimes the colour doesn't turn out so great in the videos. There are a couple of conversions in my process and that can throw things off. The blue in this video was especially bad, to the point that I had to adjust it to try and get it back to as close to original as possible.

I can tell you that the colour used throughout the site, for links, titles, etc. is #00ADF5. The background is actually from the canvas which is rgba(0, 173, 245, 0.6) fixed on a white background.

MY FAMILY ALBUMS HTML5 GENEALOGY WEBSITE TEMPLATE

After selling my fourth family history template I started to notice a trend...genealogy is hot right now. That was when I began to think I should start focusing more on it. So My Family Albums became my third genealogy website template.

Does she look familiar? Ya...that's the thing about my templates...a few minor changes in the code here and there and you can get something new! It's all in the licence agreement...I just ask that you please keep the original copyright info intact.

YE OLDE FAMILY ARCHIVE HTML5 GENEALOGY WEBSITE TEMPLATE

I combined an old version of my family website from years ago with the Family Tree template and came up with Ye Olde Family Archive. I thought redoing the main graphic was going to be a pain but it actually wasn't that bad...didn't have to start from scratch; I had kept all the old production files.

Just for fun, here is a shot of the original site:

THE SPACE WIZARD MEDIA SHOWCASE HTML5 WEBSITE TEMPLATE

...Well, not nothing, really. I love space; astronomy, the Universe, all that good stuff.  So the Space Wizard is my homage to the Hubble Space Telescope, the old reliable workhorse of space exploration.

All NASA images are public domain, and per their request I informed them about the use of their images. Back when my analytics was working it was kind of neat to see the hit from Washington DC.

THE ANGRY MONKEY MEDIA GALLERY HTML5 WEBSITE TEMPLATE

Angry Monkey was inspired by a kid's drawing. It's also (loosely) based on one of my old family site editions. I have several of those that I will utilize eventually.

THE NEWZFEED INFORMATION SERVICES HTML5 WEBSITE TEMPLATE

Newzfeed is my first information services template. In this case, it's news; but I plan to take the format and use it to make a menu site, or an online catalog, etc.

THE CURRICULUM VITAE HTML5 PERSONAL DATA SHEET TEMPLATE

Originally my plan was to offer CV hosting services right from the Web Studio; but then I thought it would display better and perhaps be noticed more as a template. We'll see how it goes. It also fits better with the new model, which still needs a little more streamlining.

This is the first template that really utilizes responsive design for display on mobile devices. For something like this, it just made sense. Late last year I started adapting the main site for mobility before I got distracted by other things...this template was good practice though and when I pick that project back up again here soon it should go pretty smoothly.

This is also the first template to offer three different styles right off the bat, to allow to to customize your digital resume even more.

Well that's all for now...I might add some more stuff later...and of course more templates will be coming soon!
